The Process
-
Contact
We will engage in detailed discussions focusing on the style of the piece you are looking for, what its intended usage will be, the types of wood you are interested in, and timeframe for the project. The focus here is for us to fully understand what you want and how you want it.
-
Design
Taking inspiration from your stylistic preferences and guided by the specific requirements of its intended application, we will design a unique, one-of-a-kind, original piece for you, and only for you. This process can undergo multiple iterations, as design drafts will be reviewed with you so that with each step, the piece evolves closer and closer to exactly what is right for you.
-
Approval
Before any construction begins or any materials purchased, the final design and estimated price will be submitted for your approval. Nothing proceeds without your official acknowledgement in writing.
-
Construction
From wood purchase to the start of finishing, work time can vary dramatically based on the design of an individual piece. Because every component of your woodwork is handmade in our small shop, definite time tables can be difficult to estimate and are always subject to change. Significant delays will always be communicated to the client.
-
Finishing
Based on the specific design of the work and the type of finish chosen, application of wood oils and clear-coats can take up to three weeks to complete (allowing for drying/curing time and multiple coats).
-
Shipping
Once the piece is completed, then the shipping method and costs can be finalized. Since specific commercial carriers and size and weight restrictions, it is not possible to fully finalize this part of the process until the work is fully completed.

Enjoyment
Our goal is for you and your family to enjoy your custom woodwork for years and generations to come.
